Schwarzenegger Gunning for New Taxes

Posted by CityBlogCA on December 16th, 2007

schwarzenegger_poster_200Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is going gunning. After promising “no new taxes” the Gov. wants to expand health care to the uninsured. The vehicle? Raise taxes to $2.87 per pack on cigs. Currently, the tax is 87 cents. What’s going on with CA politics, wasn’t it just a year ago that voters just reject a ballot measure that would have increased taxes on cancer sticks?

Haven’t we learned by now that taxes will be raised? “Read my lips” is a joke. Politicians generally find a way to raise taxes by disguising them behind vices, calling them user fees or some other notion. CA Resident.
