Schwarzenegger Gunning for New Taxes

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is going gunning. After promising “no new taxes” the Gov. wants to expand health care to the uninsured. The vehicle? Raise taxes to $2.87 per pack on cigs. Currently, the tax is 87 cents. What’s going on with CA politics, wasn’t it just a year ago that voters just reject a ballot measure that would have increased taxes on cancer sticks?

Chertoff - “I’m Protecting all of You!”

Regardless of one’s position on the sanity of the war in Iraq, Michael Chertoff’s statement about his having a “gut level instinct” about the possibility of a terrorist attack, left us all more than a bit bewildered.

Maybe we should start monitoring Chertoff’s pulse and blood pressure and post it to the Department of Homeland Security’s website so we can get our daily reading on the war on terror!
